The national and international wine competitions have only just begun, and Kollaras & Co brands have just picked up 21 awards at the Melbourne International Wine Competition.
Numerous brands were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals in addition to the top gongs received by Riunite Prosecco, which was pronounced Italy Prosecco of the Year and Mi Scusi Australian Prosecco awarded Victoria Prosecco of the Year.
Kollaras Marketing Manager, Georgia Kollaras said the achievement is significant. “The trade-only judging panel is made up of retail buyers, sommeliers, restauranteurs, hotel directors and distributors. All wines are in coded glasses and the judges are instructed to only grant awards or medals to wines that they would import, distribute, buy or sell themselves.’’
This brings Kollaras & Co’s medal tally to 41 medals for the year with another 13 shows still to be awarded. It follows on from three medals recently received at The Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show.
Ms Kollaras went on to say that the success of popular brand Mo-Town was particularly pleasing as the range was only just launched earlier this year. The brand was launched with a view to tapping into the alternative, hipster crowd who value the unique and unusual.
The complete tally for medals at the Melbourne International Wine Show include the following:
All brands are available at leading independent liquor retailers.
